Change Text / Label of XP Start Button

Step 1 – Modify Explorer.exe File In order to make the changes, the file explorer.exe located at C:\Windows needs to be edited. Since explorer.exe is a binary file it requires a special editor. For purposes of this article I have used Resource Hacker. Which is used to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). To download it CLICK HERE First make a backup copy of the file explorer.exe located at C:\Windows\explorer. Place it in a folder somewhere on your hard drive where it will be safe. Start Resource Hacker and open explorer.exe located at C:\Windows\explorer.exe. Now navigate to the String Table. Now click on 37 and then on 1033 as shown in the figure.

Instead of “start” just write the word you want to replace with start. Like “Aanchal”.

Now click to compile script button and then save the altered file bye any name you wish like explorerchanged.exe using the Save As command on the File Menu. Do not use the Save command .

Step 2 – Modify the Registry

Go to start , navigate to Run and type regedit in the Open: field. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon In the right pane , double click the Shell entry to open the Edit String dialog box as shown in Fig. 06. In Value data: line, enter the name that was used to save the modified explorer.exe file. Click OK. then reboot and u see the changes in ur taskbar.

ASUS Previews Bamboo-Ecobook is Ecofriendly

This afternoon I headed over to the launch of the ASUS Eco Book, “the first functional notebook made out of bamboo.” It’s not made entirely out of bamboo–rather, parts of it are: The lid and the part where you rest your palms are made out of pressed, recycled bamboo, while the keys are made of recycled plastic.

It’s a cute little notebook, and the wood lid looks nice; ASUS is embossed into it with a slightly firebranded look. Unfortunately, it’s not set to come out until sometime next year. As they explained to me at the preview, “Unlike metal or plastic, wood actually burns”–so, as you might imagine, they’re planning on testing the use of wood in a potentially hot laptop pretty carefully. Similarly, wood can warp and break–making bamboo a good choice, as it’s exceptionally fibrous. Still, time spent in pre-production for the Eco Book seems like time well spent.

ASUS is also planning on meeting “at least 50%” of environmentally-friendly standards, so expect the Eco Book to be Energy-Star certified.

ASUS both designs and manufactures its own laptops; as a result, they can really do what they want with the look. (This is the same company that released a Lamborghini-designed laptop). So why don’t they make all of their laptops from recycled plastics? Apparently, certain models–especially for gaming–are prone to get very hot. Recycled plastics can’t be altered to deal with heat as well as fresh, made-to-order plastics.

Do a few wooden lids on laptops make a difference? It’s a start, and recycled bamboo seems like a responsible choice of wood.

ASUS features this “ASUS Green” page on its website–with news items dating all the way back to 2005. Impressive.

Adsense tips

Tip #1: Don't put ads on empty pages.
When I reworked my site, I built a skeleton set of pages that had no content, just titles and some meta tags. I displayed ads on those pages, however. Although all you see are public service ads at first, the very act of displaying ads on a page causes the AdSense web crawler to quickly fetch that page for analysis. A page with good content will thus begin showing relevant paying ads fairly quickly.
If you don't have any content, then, Google will have to guess as what your page is about. It may guess wrong, and so the ads that it displays may not be relevant. You'll have to wait until Google re-crawls the site for the ads to correct themselves.

Tip #2: Don't be afraid to ask questions
If you're wondering about something, don't be afraid to ask Google. So far, they've always responded to my questions within a working day. There are two email addresses to use, depending on the type of question:
Please feel free to email us at
adsense-tech@google.com if you have additional technical questions or concerns. For general program or account questions, please email adsense-support@google.com.

Tip #3: Avoid non-English characters on English pages
This one is a bug, to be honest. My surname is French, and I prefer to write it out correctly with the accent grave on the first "e". Every page on my site would then include at least two accented letters, because my name shows up twice in the footer. On some pages my name shows up two or three more times.
Normally, this wouldn't be an issue. But on some pages the presence of the accented characters is enough to cause AdSense to display non-relevant ads in French. This happens whether the browser indicates a preference for French or not.

Tip #4: Check your keyword density
Although Google doesn't release exact details as to how they determine the ads to serve on a given page, they do tell us that it's the text content of the page that matters, not the meta tags. Before serving ads on a page, then, you might want to check its keyword density. A good, free tool for doing this is found here:
http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html
This lets you fine-tune the page before exposing it to the AdSense crawler.
